This is the tourist valley beyond comparison, the most frequently visited in the Cordillera Blanca. The two main lakes of Llanganuco and a host of famous summits give the tourist access to the mountain environment with very little effort. Such is the aim of the Yungay-Llanganuco-Yanama tourist trail. From July to August mountaineers come in droves and fill the base camp of Pisco (5720m), Yanapaccha (5460m), and Chopicalqui (6345m). The record for the greatest number of climbs goes to Pisco (over 800 people reaching the summits each season). This valley offer numerous climbs of all grades on famous names such as Chacraraju (6112m)_a legend, Huandoy (6116m), Huascaran’s twin Summits (6768m and 6654m), In short, a selection for all tastes_ difficult mountains or legendary summits, and option of trekking from Llanganuco to Santa Cruz, Quebrada Ulta and Alpamayo Trekking.
