Tocllaraju is one of the most beautiful mountains in the range. It is a challenging peak, yet not too diffcult for a first 6,000 peak. Adventurous yet moderate ice climbing and an exposed ridge lead to a perfect Summit. This classic four days mountaineering adventure is not to be missed.

FIRST ASCENT: July 31st 1939, by W. Brecht, H. Schweizer. This was also the first ascent of the peak, approaching from Quebrada Honda and climbing the northwest ridge. The route as described below was first climbed from Quebrada Ishinca on August 7th 1963, by G. apothloz, D. Bach, A. Besanges, G. de Rham, J. Fatton and S. Jaquet.
ELEVATION GAIN: 1,632 from valley floor, 1,032 from high camp.
GRADE: D (due to the difficulties of the Summit pyramid)
TIMING: 3 Nights / 4 days from Huaraz to Huaraz. 10 or 11 hours from high camp roundtrip.

Huaraz at the foot of the Cordillera Blanca, is an open door to the paths and summits of the Cordilleras; it is also an ideal and lively base.

Acclimatize by gaining height slowly, you will not gain any time by going too fast
