69 LAKE
Located at 4600m/15,092ft. lies just at the flank of The Pisco and Chacraraju Mountain. This is one of the most beautiful aqua colored glacial lakes in the Northern of the Cordillera Blanca mountain range. Considered by most hikers as one of the most impressive scenic day hikes in the entire Cordillera Blanca. It is truly a very unique and special place.

On clear days you can look straight through its deep blue color waters, there is an incredible waterfall dropping right into the far end of the lake that makes amazing scenery to enjoy. This hike rated as medium to hard, because of the altitude and challenging hiking effort at the last section just before to reach the lake, combines and scenic Mountain View of the main peaks in the Cordillera Blanca, beautiful colored lakes, reach vegetation and magnificent waterfalls dropping down along the valley.

Day hikes to help acclimatization before you start trekking, or just for a fun day out. Options from easy valley walks to a more challenging hike up to 4600m Mountain Lake.

Peru Amazing Adventures recommend our clients to start early; our team will pick you up at your hotel then drive north in our private transportation along the Callejon de Huaylas valley following the curse of the main RIO SANTA.

As we reach Yungay drive up on the dirt road to the North East where is located the Llanganuco Valley, just at the entrance of the valley we Stop at the Huascaran National Park check point to register. We continue drive up passing the beautiful lakes of Chinancocha and Orconcocha , make an stop at the side of the Lake Chinancocha to takes some pictures then drive ahead to Cebollapamapa at 3900., our star hiking point to the lake 69. At the beginning it is an pleasant hike on the almost flat area for about 1 hour, passing through quenual tress enjoying view surrounded on the back ground we have the view of Huascaran mountain, the highest peak in the Cordillera Blanca, Chopicalqui and Yanapaccha.

Then ascend on the well market sig sag path to the first small lake, as we gain hight a dramatic glaciated peak of Chacraraju, Yanapaccha, Huascaran, Chopicalqui and water falls in the valley comes into view. Continue ascending on the last sig sag path to the lake 69, some people find hard demanding the last section just before o reach the lake, you may feel the effects of the altitude and get tired just a last effort to get the lake. It is really worded to reach the lake you will be impressed by the beauty of the lake and a close up view of the Pisco and Chacraraju mountains. Relax take pictures have box lunch enjoying the landscape sourrouded then descend on the same way to Cebollapampa, where our transportation is waiting to drive you back to Huaraz Hotel. Timing about 11 - 12 hours whole day adventure journey.



OPTIONAL, SENDERO MARIA JOSEFA
Maria Josefa Trail: Then hike for about 1 to 2 hours ascending or descending through quenual forest, a lot of vegetation, and bromeliads in a well market stone path following the curse of the river that takes up to the beautiful lake Chinancocha at 3800m, upon arrival we enjoy the spectacular turquoise colored lake surrounded by a lot of quenual trees and glacier mountain view of Huascaran, Yanapaccha and Huandoy. Walk around right side of the lake take photos, relax and have lunch just at lake side at the picnic area enjoying the surrounded landscape. Then drive back to Huaraz hotel. Full adventure journey day around 7-8 hours.
